Children and Podiatry

Children’s feet differ from those of adults as they are not yet fully formed.

” Don’t worry – they’ll grow out of it” is a common response to parents concerns about the development of their children’s feet or legs.

In some cases, this can be true, however as children grow their feet and legs undergo various stages of development.¬†As Podiatrist we are able to advise you on wear your child’s development falls within the normal limits for their age, or if they require some intervention or treatment.

Don’t dismiss your child’s consistent complaints of aches as “just growing pains”. The reasons for this can sometimes be due to poor foot and leg posture. Flat feet, intoed, bow-legged and knock-knees are some conditions that are worth assessing.

It is not necessary to obtain a referral for your child to see our Podiatrists at By the Bay. Most private health insurance funds cover podiatry services under their ancillary tables. You can also speak to your local GP about an EPC plan which is a Medicare funded scheme by which the appointments are bulk billed.
